Uniforms

  • Posted on August 30, 2008 at 11:56 am

At the job I am currently at we have uniforms to wear.  At first I loved the idea of knowing what I was going to wear and having it ready without having to put too much thought into what to wear to work.  Now I am kind of tired of the uniforms though.  There is no variety and the uniforms don’t flatter you too much.  What I mean by that is I can’t hide my trouble spots and I can’t show off my features either.

The reason I am bringing this up is because school is starting soon and the debate on whether to wear uniforms or not has gone on forever.  As adults sometimes we have jobs where uniforms are required.  We may not always look our best in them, but they are required to wear.  I think that at some schools, especially high school uniforms are appropriate.  I may not have felt that way when I was in high school, but being older and wiser I think that school uniforms are a great idea.

Writing a Book

  • Posted on August 26, 2008 at 11:15 am

I am so excited to tell you all that I have finally started to write my first book. This is something that I have thought about doing for many years, but always had an excuse not to do it. Everything from lack of time to lack of motivation and everything in between kept me from beginning to write. Now that I have quit my full-time job I figured this was the best time to get started on it.

I am so excited because not only do I have the title down, but I have the chapters titled as well. Now the hard work comes. I have hours and hours of research to put in and then hours and hours of well thought out planning to do. I know this is not going to be an easy task, but I am so ready for a challenge. Since leaving college ten years ago I have been sailing through life without any real challenges. I am so excited to have this book to create. I will keep you posted on how it is coming along.

The Olympics

With the Olympics underway I can’t help but be discouraged at some of the events that have taken place. By events I mean the bad behavior of some of the athletes and the lack of integrity. I understand that these athletes train their whole lives for these events, but is coming in first place all that important?! I couldn’t believe the anger and hatred I saw on the faces of some of these athletes for not receiving the gold medal! It was really unbelievable and in fact it made me not want to watch the games.

It has really been ridiculous. I can’t remember another time in the history of the Olympics when things were so chaotic. This year I can’t wait to see the end of them. It has not even been fun to watch.

Interesting News

I was reading some interesting news on the internet today.  I am old enough to know that these get rich quick schemes are just that schemes, but for some reason I always love to hear about somebody trying something out and making a whole lot of money from it.  The story I’m talking about was a young boy about 14 years old who ended up making $60,000 on ebay in one year.

He gave his sister $100. for a bunch on DVD’s she had and turned around and made a profit of $400. from selling them on ebay.  Next he started buying things from Walmart at discounted prices and selling all sorts of things on ebay.  Before he knew it he was making money part-time and going to highschool part-time as well.  He didn’t have to get a part-time job at McDonalds like most of us had to do in highschool.  It is going to be interesting to see what becomes of this young man as he gets older.

Home at Last

We just returned home from our wonderful trip up to Michigan. We had a great time. The weather was wonderful (you never know what to expect in Michigan). Everything was great I could have stayed there another month. One great thing that came of this vacation was realizing how much I missed my free time. I never realized it until I had some during this vacation. After some long thought I went into my job today and gave my notice.

I know it sounds like a rash decision but it has been on my mind for a while now. In between working two jobs and keeping up with the house I had no free time whatsoever. I think I just got to a point where the money wasn’t all that important anymore. My next adventure is going to be getting back into shape. Now I have no excuse for not working out and taking care of myself.
