Teachers

  • Posted on September 29, 2008 at 11:15 am

With the new school year being here I decided to write a post about another situation involving a teacher and a student.  I just read this story on CNN today and was shocked, but then again every year you hear something just like this.  The teacher was a middle school math teacher who lived out west.  I can’t remember what state this happened in but it was in the midwest.  She was in her 20′s and she decided to have sex with one of her students who was only 12 or 13!  I know it is crazy how could a grown adult do that to a child.

The story gets better; not only did she have sex with him but she tried to drive out to Mexico with him to have sex there.  I don’t know what she was thinking; maybe she thought no one would see them?!  So now not only is she in trouble for having sex with a minor but also for kidnapping and taking a minor across state lines.  She doesn’t sound too bright, and she is teaching our children.

Pig Roast

  • Posted on September 23, 2008 at 11:06 am

Last Sunday my husband and I went to a Pig Roast.  He is a Mason and they were the ones putting on the event.  I love the fact that he is a Mason because we always have dinner parties to go to, pig roasts, etc.  Plus he has events all over the United States that he is invited to go to with other Masons.

At the Pig Roast I met the most amazing woman.  Her name was Anne and she just happened to be sitting by us at dinner.  She was telling me about how she was a realtor when she was younger and is now a professional writer.  She has written over 50 murder mystery books and has gotten them published.  She also told me how she is an active member at her church and helps out with the elderly there.  I loved the stories she was telling me and how being in her 70′s did not slow her down one bit.  One huge benefit about being married to a Mason is that you end up meeting the most amazing, wonderful people.

A funny story

This story is not actually funny, but it is one of those things that will be funny when we look back at it in about 10 years.  I am in the middle of getting ready to be a bridesmaid in my friend Amy’s wedding.  The wedding is happening next month, but getting the dress hemmed, etc. is all happening now.  Anyhow I called Amy to see how she was holding up during these stressful days.  She told me on the phone today that she got fired from her job!  I thought maybe she was taking too much time off to get the last minute details ready for her wedding, but no not Amy.  She got fired because her boss caught her interviewing for another job.

Okay it is not that funny, but if you knew Amy it is a riot.  Only something like this would happen to her.  She doesn’t seem too worried about it since she has so much to do with the wedding coming up, but of course not having money coming in is stressing her out!  I can’t wait to see her in about 3 weeks I will be flying to Ohio for her wedding.  My crazy friend Amy is what I call her.  I can’t wait to hear the other stories about what is going on in her life.

September 11, 2008

It’s so strange to think that 7 years ago today the attack on September 11, 2001 took place.  I can remember that day so vividly (like everyone else I’m sure).  I just can’t believe 7 years have gone by already.  For some reason too this year didn’t seem as sad and as horrible as all the prior years.

I wonder if everyone else felt that way also.  I didn’t hear much about 9/11.  The radio stations didn’t talk about the attacks in detail as they have in the past.  I can’t even recall one station stopping for prayer for the victims families and friends.  I guess as the years go by the situation that happened on that horrible day may become easier and easier to deal with.  Just like everyone always says, time heals all wounds.
