The Upcoming Election

  • Posted on October 31, 2008 at 12:14 pm

I can’t believe the election is less than a week away.  The excitement is starting to happen!  I cannot wait to start seeing positive changes happen.  Just yesterday I went to my bank in a shopping center nearby where I live.  I was so upset to see that about 50% of the shopping center has closed down due to the hard economic times we are facing.

The other changes I’m looking forward to are better healthcare policies.  My health insurance is so high that I can barely afford my prescriptions.  I know I am not alone in that matter.  Last but not least the war.  It will be interesting to see what happens to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan once we get our new president into office.  Exciting and long anticipated changes are sure to come.

Frost on the Punkins

  • Posted on October 25, 2008 at 2:17 pm

The end of October always means that we buy some punkins from the farmer’s market and take them home to carve them up. We like to make scary faces and set candles inside so that when it gets dark the people who drive by our house see the scary faces glowing.

I want to make a punkin totem pole next year. I have seen some really cute ideas on the morning TV show and in some magazines. I didn’t see those until it was too late and we already had our punkins carved this year. Ours are really cute though – we did a good job carving them up this time.

Breakfast

  • Posted on October 19, 2008 at 10:40 am

Everyone knows how important a good breakfast is to your health. Your body needs fuel to get your day started. Even if you just have a bowl of cold cereal with fruit. at least you are giving your heart, muscles and brain something to work with.

My favorite breakfast cereal is Special K with strawberries. The strawberries are dehydrated and they plump up when you add milk to the bowl. Sometimes I will add more fresh fruit to the bowl, like banana slices or a handful of blueberries.

The best part of summer and autumn is having all the fresh fruit to cook with or add to cereal, salads and snacks.

New Music

New music will be coming out this time of year. The artists want to get the airplay to put songs in your head and prompt you to buy their albums. So they are releasing the albums now and the radio stations will have lots of new music to add to their play lists. Some people will like the music so much that they buy the albums as Christmas gifts for their friends and family. I don’t like to give music as gifts – to me, music is much too personal a choice. Sometimes there will be an album that almost everyone loves, but most people have definite tastes on what artists they like and if you buy something for them that they don’t like then you really havent’ given them a gift of value.

Debate Night

  • Posted on October 7, 2008 at 10:40 am

Tonight I have to work late and will miss the debate on TV between Obama and McCain. I was hoping to see some of it, but I’m sure all the news stations will be broadcasting the best parts and criticizing the worst parts for the next several days. I thought about TIVO-ing the debate, but decided that it’s really something you need to see live.

Politics and the election has been on everyone’s minds these days. The elections are just a month away. I hope we have a great turnout and record numbers of voters this year. It’s going to be an exciting time for America!
