  • Posted on November 26, 2008 at 2:17 pm

Thanksgiving Day is just about here.  Tomorrow we will be celebrating the holiday with my husbands family.  One of his relatives from out of state will be coming in to celebrate with us.  I have never met him but It will be so great to meet my husbands extended family.

My aunt Lynn and her daughter Chris will be coming as well.  I can’t wait to see everyone it will be great to have Will’s family and mine coming together for this celebration.   My husband rented out a room for all of us and his mother volunteered to bring all of the food.  I can’t wait for tomorrow- I hope this holiday season starts off well and continues all the way throughout Christmas!

Time

I can’t believe how fast the month of November has flown by. I can remember it being summer and 80 degrees out. It feels like it was just yesterday when we were enjoying the nice weather. Now it is the end of the year and I have already seen Christmas lights up. It’s incredible how fast time passes by.

I guess it’s true what people say about the time passing by faster and faster as you get older. As a child it was easy to feel that the school year would never end. As an adult you feel as though the school year ends too fast and then your kids are home all day long for way too long. Life is so funny that way.

Pens and Pencils

My Mother always used to say that she would never trust a person who fills out a crossword puzzle in pencil. She says that the only proper way to take on a crossword challenge is with a pen so that your answers are final and cannot be changed.

I have tried to approach my life that way, as well. It can be hard to step into an unfamiliar setting and make your mark with a pen, but sometimes the rest of the people around you need to see that confidence, too. So I try to tackle every challenge with a confident smile and a firm hand, and most of the time I am delighted to find that it all worked out just fine.

Did Anyone Win?

Everyone I know has been going to McDonald’s for weeks trying to collect the Monopoly game pieces that come on Big Macs, large fries and large drinks. We all have a game board tacked on the wall at our workstations or at home in our kitchens. Today when I order my large fries, the box had no game piece on it – so it looks like the game is over. I don’t know a single person who won anything at all in this Monopoly game. Do you know of anyone?

Family

I was talking to one of my coworkers last night at work and got a kick out of what she was telling me about her husband.  Don’t get me wrong we love our husbands dearly but it seemed like she was talking about my husband.  She was laughing and joking around a little bit, but some of the conversation turned pretty tense.

It all began because she had been a stay at home mom for the past couple of years.  Now that the baby is a little bit older she decided to go back to work to make some money.  What she has realized though is that her house is a mess, she can’t keep up with the laundry or dishes and she doesn’t know what to do.  She mentioned that her husband doesn’t really notice or at least doesn’t do much about it.  It was really funny to listen to her talk and to feel that I could totally relate to her.  What is the anwer all you women out there?  Are we really suppose to just let it go when we feel we are unable to work full-time and keep up with the house?
