My husband is such a sweetheart. He just spent the last 2 days down in Richmond at the Masonic Home. It’s not an old age home, but all the residence their are older and are taken care of. The main difference is these people chose to live their they are not put there by friends, family or relatives.
My husband went down there to interview some residents and to understand thier lives better and how the Mason’s have been a part of their lives. One woman in particular was hasving her 100th birthda. She was up and dancing and having a great time. Another lady will be turning 101 this year. She is not on any medications or using anything to help her get around, like a walker for example. My husband was impressed with their positive attitudes and their levels of independence. This home was established by the Masons in oder for the widows to have a place to go if their husbands passed away. The best part of the whole trip was seeing how close the employees and the residence are to each other. They are as close as family my husband said.
