Oprah

I love Oprah Winfrey I am a huge fan of hers.  I always have been and I always will be.  Recently I have been able to watch some of her shows because our hours at work have been cut back.  The next couple of shows are going to be about Kristie Alley and Valerie Bertinelli and all of their weight loss struggles.  I worked for Jenny Craig for a couple of years so I will definitely tune in to watch these episodes.  Then I heard that next week she is going to run a show on Madelleine McCann.  The little girl who got taken from her parents vacation home in Portugal.

That story touched my heart.  I felt so horrible for her parents and everything they went through.  I remember following that story closely and praying for her safe return.  I am so happy that they story is going to be on Oprah.  We need to keep searching for children that are lost.  We should never forget about them and always keep our prayers going strong for the families and for the children.  I hope something good will come out of this broadcast.

Gambling in West Virginia

I have to admit that I love to gamble.  I always have and I always will.  Win or lose I always have a good time.  Unfortunately the closest casino is an hour away so I don’t get out there as often as I would like.  Last week I had a chance to go with one of my girlfriends who recently lost her job.  She thought she would be able to make some money to help with the bills.  Unfortunately things didn’t turn out quite as we expected.  I won a little bit which was good, but she lost a little bit.  I guess it’s true what they say about the devil being in charge of gambling money.  She should have been the one winning not me!  We’ll just have to go back again soon and try again.

Craigslist

Craigslist is a website that has gotten a lot of exposure lately.  Unfortunately not for good reasons either.  I use this site a lot to look up jobs or part-time positions if I need extra money.  Lately though it has been in the news because of other services that are offered.

About a month ago Craigslist was in the news for a prostitution ring.  Just recently though a man has been accussed of luring women from Craigslist to hotel rooms and robbing them.  He is currently in the news because his last victim fought back and ended up dead.  It seems that he was in trouble with a large gambling debt and he was trying to get money from these women.  Unfortunately crime does not pay.  Now he is sitting in jail waiting for his trial date.  It’s so unfortunate that a website that offers services such as job postings, etc. can end up causing someone their life.

Easter Sunday

I love this time of the year and I love the fact that Easter falls right in the middle of Spring.  I walked out on the front porch this morning and was reminded of all the fond memories of Easter as a child.  I don’t know why but one memory in particular came to mind.  It was celebrating Easter over at my Grandma’s house after church.  She would hide easter eggs and candy all over the yard for her grandchildren to find.  It was always such a great time.  I also remember going to church with the whole family.  These days things are a little different.  We are all grown and living away from home with families of our own.  Now my parents hide easter eggs and candy for the grandchildren.  It’s still such a great holiday and so much fun for children.

Eaglewood Resort

Their is a great resort out in the Chicago area that is the perfect getaway for a weekend.  It’s convenient to downtown Chicago so you can go shopping, it has a pool, bowling alley, restaurants and a bar.  On top of that it also offers a golf course and spa.  It’s a great getaway for a couple or for a family.  Every weekend they run specials on the room rates.  If you live in or around the Chicago area there is no better place to go to take a break and to save money.
