Christmas Cheer
It’s been a whirlwind this past week. I am totally, completely exhausted.
Santa found our house just fine and so did all our kids and grandkids. I’ve had a house full and have enjoyed every minute of our holidays this year. But now I need sleep – at least 8 hours of it – ten if I can get them.
Hope you’ve had a Very Merry Christmas!
Here Comes Santa
I have nearly everything wrapped and the stockings hung. Eggnog and cookies out for Santa, and will add the Christmas “spirits”
to mine after I lock the door behind Ole Saint Nick, and get into my new jammies.
My kids have been great about humoring me when it comes to Santa all week and coming for older teenagers, that’s saying something. Gotta love them for that or I would have been a total Scrooge. Their dad was out like a light before wrapping even began. But I didn’t mind.
So everyone… Have a Very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. I feel if I could hibernate for the rest of the winter now. Catch ya’ll in the Spring! lol
Holidays with the In-Laws
I had to go to my husband’s father’s house today for a Christmas celebration and dinner. When I say “had”, I mean there was no way I personally could get out of it.
Don’t get me wrong, I really love my father in law. My mother in-law bless her heart, passed on two years ago and I miss her. The “had” part comes in because I had to endure my husband’s really odd two brothers and one’s wife who is enough to grate on even the most kind and tolerant person’s nerves, which sadly in this case, I am not. Plus the fact that my family are one of those really tight knit, lovingly dysfunctional families, who are into public displays of affection, and it generally takes us two hours to say goodbye and about 100 “I love yous” to one another. We always start way before we are ready to leave.
My husband’s family members don’t even talk to each other much except to say, “Pass me the gravy.” Note.. no please or thank you stuck in there anywhere either. It ticks me off.
I don’t like my kids seeing it or the lack of hearing conversation between family. One never knows how long a person, especially family will remain in our lives and we should make the most of it. They just grew up apparently with no love or affection in the home. It’s Sad.
Dad has come around 98 degrees since I first met him though and it’s great to see. He left the day after for his annual all winter stay in Florida and I worry about him. He’s getting on in age and since Mom isn’t there with him now to over see that he takes his meds and eats right, I fret that he really shouldn’t be in the travel home alone. Not to mention driving the sucker. It’s HUGE.
So the Christmas celebration there was more like a dirge match and even though I tried, I still can’t stand the wife who can’t speak proper English. To me, “We walks up to the door and looks and opens it to find the dog had teared up ours couch”. Take note the “s” on words where the shouldn’t be. OR, the other dreaded sentence, ” We ain’t got none of thems”. I could have shook her. BUT, it’s supposed to be a time of Blessings and Good Will Toward Men. And in this case, Women also. UGHHH!!!
