Got my wish!

  • Posted on May 31, 2011 at 2:36 pm

After all the rain we have had, and the terrible storm and tornado that went through, I finally got my wish. 96 degree weather, but the humidly makes it feel like it’s over 110. Great hair day though!! :) Yesterday was the same. Unfortunately we’re to get more rain and storms coming in in a day or so. I’m going to enjoy this while I can though.

Out of town company

A friend of mine who I haven’t seen in over 16 years, came into town for her daughter’s graduation and now is staying here for a time to visit. Did I happen to mention that I don’t like much company. Course, it is great to see her but I always have this guilty feeling that my house isn’t clean enough or I have to entertain people…something that I’m not really great at. Lets face it, in all honesty I’m a lousy hostess. Doesn’t seem to be bothering Lorraine though. She’s making herself right at home and that is fine by me. So, all in all it’s been a nice visit, except I have no idea what her plans are and how long she plans on staying. LOL! It’s okay though…I’ll adjust.

Rearraging cupboards

  • Posted on May 29, 2011 at 2:11 pm

It’s time to clean out and rearrange cupboards and it’s long over due. Each cupboard I try to organize by putting the baking products in one cupboard, then the regular cooking items, such as my spices, cooking bags, and things like bullion and such in another and so on. When I got to my spice cupboard, I knew I needed to so something major about it. I needed kitchen spice racks.

When I went shopping, I really couldn’t find any spice racks I liked, to hold and organize all my spices. I tend to collect all kinds of herbs and spices, plus grow and dry my own herbs and bottle them, to use later in cooking. My kitchen space and cupboards really have limited room for the amount that I have. I decided to look for a wall spice rack. It would cut down on the amount of space I used, plus the spices would be right at hand. I have lots of unused wall space in my kitchen, so this is great!

I guess I’m pretty picky when it comes to a spice rack, but it is sort of like a show piece to a cook. At least to me it is. I hate clutter and this way, everything I need is organized and neatly hanging right where I can grab the spices I need and not have to rummage through the cupboard to find what I’m looking for. I really like this aspect. So…here I go…cooking away with organized spices!!

Still no respite from the rain.

I sure wish the rain would stop and we could see the rainbow…

A chair makes a difference.

I bought a new computer/desk chair today. It’s amazing the difference it makes on my back. I sit up much straighter and it’s actually comfortable on my neck. I didn’t think I’d like it, but when my boys put it together for me and I started to type, it indeed helps my posture and also my arms. In the next few weeks I’ll break it in more and then see what it really feels like. For now, I’m happy with it. We’ll see how long it lasts.
