This does not surprise me at all, of course. We will be going to my Mom’s on Sunday and I’ll be seeing to some things that need taken care of there. Then I want to spend a quiet evening here at home on the 4th. There are too many drunk and crazy drivers on the road during these holiday weekends and we can see what fireworks there are to see, on Sunday night and some on the 4th anyway, from here or in our lot. It’s no big deal to the kids anymore considering they are nearly all grown. I think it is me who made a big deal out of all the fireworks anyway. The husband has to work on the night of the 4th, so it would mean he couldn’t be with us anyway. We aren’t going to miss out on much. It will be good just to sit on the porch and relax, if I’m not asleep early like I have lately taken to.
What to do
I sit here contemplating the up coming weekend. The fourth of July is always a fun weekend with so much to do. I have so many invites for it that I can hardly choose. BBQ’s, camping, water play…I wonder how many I can fit in one weekend? I guess we will see. I might give it another couple of days before deciding. Just in case I get more invites for fun things to do ! =) I hope everyone is having a great week.
A substitute laptop bag
Recently I caught the case that came with my lap top, on a piece of metal sticking out of the shop that I use when I am out at the farm and need to catch up on email, my writing and such. It made a good size tear that I could not replace. I had checked on the price of lap top cases and they seemed either to be too big, too high tech or just too roomy and heavy than what I really needed for my simple lap top.
I had heard about various places I could get various functional laptop bag at a fairly decent price, that also came in different colors and styles that would perhaps suit my needs, so I decided to take a look at them. I wanted durability as I am not exactly as careful as I should be with my laptop. I use it when I am not at home, and to be honest I prefer my PC because it has raised keys and the “eccentric person” in me, loves to hear the click, click, click of the keys while I am typing. Besides that, I find that the keys on my lap top are also spaced too close together for my taste in typing. I checked out a site where I indeed found some very nice bags that even can be customized.
I found one that is a laptop messenger bag also, which I’m thinking about getting for my son. What I liked is that these bags indeed come in different colors and different sizes that suit the needs for various computer needs. The manufactures are really into the bags that they made and also keep in mind the needs of the folks who will be using them. I think it’s a great way to do business.
Time for new glasses
I guess I need to bite the bullet as they say and go to the eye doctors. I need a new pair of glasses badly. I admit to being lax in this area as I do not particularly like doctors visits. Not that I don’t like the doctors or anything like that. It’s just the waiting forever in the waiting room. It seems to me that no matter what doctor you go to they seem to over book everyday, and then want to rush you through your visit. I literally have to make a list of questions I needs to ask whatever doctor I happen to be going to so I don’t forget anything. I miss the good ole days, when you had a personal connection with your doctor, because they spent more time talking to you and not rushing. Oh well, off to make my appointment. Good day to all !
Cuban food
Gosh I had the best dinner last night. I made a pork shoulder in the oven, with black beans and rice and fried plantains (bananas). It was AMAZING. Reminded me of a visit I once made to Miami. The food was so good. I think I will have to learn how to make that dessert called Flan. It would have topped off the meal perfectly, but I didn’t think about it until it was too late. Note to self…don’t forget the Flan next time. =) If you have never tried Cuban food, I highly recommend it. You will enjoy the experience I assure you.
