Merry Christmas

  • Posted on December 24, 2011 at 10:11 am

I’ve got a lot of wrapping and last minute shopping to do, so I hope every one has a very Happy Christmas and a safe, prosperous New Year!

Are my lists finally finished?

It would be great to have all my shopping done for once early. I’ve stuck to my lists and so far so good. Of course it doesn’t help that I keep adding little things I’ve forgotten. I am one of those kind of people who think of things at the last minute too. But, so far so good. Hopefully I won’t be doing the mad dash shopping on Christmas eve like I did last year, for some items the kids discovered they can’t live without. If so…it’s resort to, “Give them the money” perhaps. :)

By the dozens

By staying up most the night baking Christmas cookies for the kids to decorate, I realized that I have way too many than we will ever eat. This coming week, my daughter will be going to the old folks homes, as she calls them, to Christmas carol with her choir. I’m thinking about getting together small plates of cookies or little “bundles” of them for her and the girls to give out also. It would be nice to share them.

New address numbers

Deciding to get my mom a house numbers for the front of her house, came from my oldest daughter. We were over at mom’s visiting and she noticed that two of my mom’s address numbers that were on the front of the house were falling apart. We had debated on what to get mom for Christmas, and thought that this is something no one would ever actually think of getting a person, even though they were needed.

I never knew there was such a variety of address plaques, until my daughter and I got online to find one that would be perfect for my mom. Her home is a large Victorian, and it built of brick, so we had to find one that would be fairly easy to install on the house and yet also look sort of antique, since the house is old and elegant looking. My mom isn’t really a picky person, but I know she loves her house and I also know her taste and style in items. I also plant all the flowers in the front gardens, so I wanted to get something that would look great with the flowers and style of the house.

We thought about looking at lawn plaques, but unfortunately I thought that it might get stolen or vandalized. One can never be too careful with what is put on the lawn, even in a nice neighborhood.

Stores are madhouses

The stores today for some reason were like madhouses. It was crazy trying to shop and the lines were so darn long. At least the kids finally made the lists I asked for though so I’ve gotten some of the things they wanted and needed. Stocking stuffers I’ll save for last. I got some great ideas today though.
