By growing up with my Nana and Papa in my life nearly every week, or for weeks on end in the summer, at a young age, I learned the difference in custom made suits and the suits that were, “off the rack” so to speak. I have to be honest and say that in my opinion, custom made suits for any occasion that calls for a man to wear a suit, looks so much better. They may be more expensive, but they are indeed worth it. My Papa always wore them. He was a giving man and would take the shirt off his back to give it to someone in need, and his suits were the only vanity he ever showed, though he only wore them on special occasions. My Papa always got his suits from LS Mens Clothing Custom Suits, for as long as I can remember. I know that this mens shop has been in business for longer than I was born, and I’m a bit over 50. This says a lot about the suits these people make and what kind of quality they have. Looking at their site that this business has, is impressive. It is elegant and classy, not flashy and commercial. I like it, and love to look at the various styles of suits and tuxedos. Definitely one of my Raves!

Today, I’m going to try and clean out the eaves troughs and also pick up sticks, sweep up whirly twirleys as I call them. Those little seed pod things that come off my maple trees in zillions. They are a major pain for me. I also have to fix the screening on the windows and vents in the attic. There are a lot of home improvements I plan on doing this year, inside and out. Money is the problem, but somehow it will come. I never plant until after Mother’s Day, so now I’m getting all the seeds organized and put in containers instead of plastic bags and seed packets that will blow away when I lay them down next to me. The egg carton containers are really great for this, if you have heavy seeds to plant. The egg carton won’t move much.

Lately, I’ve been talking to Kenya travel agents to find out more of the place I may go to visit. I’d really love to go, as my dear friend Kirsty lives near there, and she has given me an open invitation to come to Africa whenever it is possible for me to get away for a week. I think it would be totally awesome to go to visit, and perhaps go on a safari tour, or just go to the little shops and see what kind of pretty and unique things I can find while shopping. My friend and I met online 14 years ago, in a group that basically showed other members where we lived, and our lifestyles. It has since changed and we no longer have that group online. After Kirsty and I “met” in the group, she and a few other members decided to come visit me in my farm life community, since most of the ladies (there were 6) were basically city people. Kirsty told me about her homeland and showed me recent photos of her new home. Her surroundings are beautiful. She also mentioned looking on the internet for Kenya travel agents who could set up tours, shopping sprees, and accommodations during my visit. I think that would be the way to do things, so I can make the most of my vacation, and see and do what I really want to do. Going to visit another Country and being out of my own Country is strange to me, but also exciting and fun.

This morning I let the dog out, and was totally surprised that it was so warm outside. It felt like walking out the door, and into a sort of warm tropical feeling heat, that reminded me of where I lived on the Gulf in Florida. I loved those morning and the weather I had there year around. Going back into the house, I actually got chilled, and the difference in temperatures surprised me. Today I’m going to do some earnest gardening and transplanting volunteer plants from where they are, to a more spacious place, that isn’t in the cracks of my brick walkways. It’s amazing how my valarian is now growing in with the lily of the valley, and parsley in with the chick and hens. The list could go on forever. Since basically despite of good planning and organization, my plants do what they want to do. Because its so warm outside, today will be a good day to spray the weeds that are growing between the cracks of the bricks, as the roots are so deep, that I even pulled up a brick, trying to dig out the roots of some weeds I had never seen before. Everything seems to be changing, or different plants seem to be growing. However, it doesn’t matter as long as I am outside in the warm embrace of the sun and summer feeling. It’s almost spiritual for me. It gives me peace of mind and I relax and enjoy what I am doing, which I love.

If you know some mothers who are nuts about yoga, then you can easily find gift items to put in Mother’s Day gift baskets for them. The gift items that you will give them will help them on their journey to good balance and peace. These gifts are always appreciated. Candles are the first things that you can think about when it comes to relaxation, which yoga is all about. Those who want to meditate will frequently do such act by focusing on an open fire. Thus, a candle or set of candles is a perfect item in a gift basket. Also, those scented candles that have the scent of nature can help them get in the mood for meditation. You can also include yoga DVDs in the gift basket. A holistic yogi can never get enough yoga. They can get additional yoga techniques or styles in yoga DVDs. Yoga DVDs can be used at home at any time of the day because they are a complete yoga exercise presented by expert and experienced teachers. When you think of yoga, the very first thing that gets into your mind is a person sitting. Yogis use mats when they do the exercises or meditations. There is a wide range of mats that you can buy for your mom. You can go to a sports store or visit sites like Amazon in order to find a right mat for your mom. It is very important to read reviews about a particular mat, so you will have an idea on the quality and effectiveness of the mat. You can also include a small planner for your mom. There are planners that have subject in them. Hence, choose a planner that has a yoga oriented subject, such as water or nature. These are peaceful subjects to the mind of your mom. You can also try to include a book that covers the greatest respect in yoga. Mother’s Day gift baskets for yoga lovers are very easy to make. You just need to have the right items to put in the basket. It is very seldom that you can find a premade gift basket for yogis, so you have to get all the right items and make the gift basket on your own. Your mom will truly be happy to get a gift basket on Mother’s Day that is filled with items that she needs in her yoga exercises.

It’s really dark and there is a change of tornadoes. Course, around these parts there is always a chance of these. I’ve got all my little survival things gathered as a just in case and bought lamp oil and extra wicks for my lamps. I’ve got and always have lots of candles, and I want to thank my Mom for the gas stove she gave me. If the power goes out, at least I can cook, so that is helpful. I have to get a hold of a good roofer, since yesterday I noticed that there were some shingles off of the roof. We don’t need a leaking roof and ceiling, so I’m calling in the pros. This weather is so strange. Even though the sun keeps trying to shine, the weather people are insisting that we are going to get hit with a big one.
Lately I have heard my son talking about a new HP Laptop Battery and has been looking at all sort of online sites to find, of course, the best price he can find. He is a bargain hunter when it comes to just about everything he buys. He would rather buy items online than in the stores around this area, and I really don’t blame him. Just being out of school and trying to save the little money his job pays. When it comes to help with money matters, he has even showed me a trick or two on saving. He is on the internet so much I can see why he’d need a better and more reliable battery. I’ve seen him in public places try to find a place to plug into, when he takes me to appointments, and his battery gets low. Sometimes there isn’t any power source for him to do so, and then he can’t do homework or he isn’t able to finish what he is working on at the time. I myself really have not ever had this problem, since I usually don’t take my laptop with me. If I do, I know that I’ll have a power source. Thinking about it though, perhaps I should indeed get a longer lasting and more reliable battery than the one I have now.

Remembering traditions in the school I went to until the 8th grade, May Day was one of my favorite. It seems like the whole school was involved in celebrating the first of May. We got new summer dresses and shoes, because back then the weather was usually nice and warm and sunny. Each class would make a May Pole, and decorate it with ribbons and flowers. There were prizes for the best looking May Pole, but it seemed that Nuns at our small school not only gave prizes to the first, second and third place winners, but also prizes to those who had not won. Either way it was a great project to do and it was fun to see everyone having a cheerful time and participating in the first day of May celebration. When my kids were little we had our traditions and the the May Pole was a family ordeal. Even my husband got involved and we used the tether ball pole to anchor ribbons and flowers to it. We made wreaths of flowers to wear on our heads and always danced and sang and laughed until the kids got tired of the game.

Yesterday I went shopping for a ground cover that is unusual. I’ve seen so many run of the mill ground covers in my gardening time, that I wanted…well, I’m not sure what I want just yet, but will know it when I see it. I’m thinking perhaps something fragrant in yellow.
