  • Posted on May 9, 2012 at 1:44 pm

If you know some mothers who are nuts about yoga, then you can easily find gift items to put in Mother’s Day gift baskets for them. The gift items that you will give them will help them on their journey to good balance and peace. These gifts are always appreciated.

Candles are the first things that you can think about when it comes to relaxation, which yoga is all about. Those who want to meditate will frequently do such act by focusing on an open fire. Thus, a candle or set of candles is a perfect item in a gift basket. Also, those scented candles that have the scent of nature can help them get in the mood for meditation.

You can also include yoga DVDs in the gift basket. A holistic yogi can never get enough yoga. They can get additional yoga techniques or styles in yoga DVDs. Yoga DVDs can be used at home at any time of the day because they are a complete yoga exercise presented by expert and experienced teachers.

When you think of yoga, the very first thing that gets into your mind is a person sitting. Yogis use mats when they do the exercises or meditations. There is a wide range of mats that you can buy for your mom. You can go to a sports store or visit sites like Amazon in order to find a right mat for your mom. It is very important to read reviews about a particular mat, so you will have an idea on the quality and effectiveness of the mat.

You can also include a small planner for your mom. There are planners that have subject in them. Hence, choose a planner that has a yoga oriented subject, such as water or nature. These are peaceful subjects to the mind of your mom. You can also try to include a book that covers the greatest respect in yoga.

Mother’s Day gift baskets for yoga lovers are very easy to make. You just need to have the right items to put in the basket. It is very seldom that you can find a premade gift basket for yogis, so you have to get all the right items and make the gift basket on your own. Your mom will truly be happy to get a gift basket on Mother’s Day that is filled with items that she needs in her yoga exercises.

Severe thunder storms

Generally I’m not really afraid of storms, but this one that is supposed to hit from the NW, is starting to look a bit scary. It’s really dark and there is a change of tornadoes. Course, around these parts there is always a chance of these.

I’ve got all my little survival things gathered as a just in case and bought lamp oil and extra wicks for my lamps. I’ve got and always have lots of candles, and I want to thank my Mom for the gas stove she gave me. If the power goes out, at least I can cook, so that is helpful.

I have to get a hold of a good roofer, since yesterday I noticed that there were some shingles off of the roof. We don’t need a leaking roof and ceiling, so I’m calling in the pros. This weather is so strange. Even though the sun keeps trying to shine, the weather people are insisting that we are going to get hit with a big one. Sometimes I wonder what the television forecasters actually do know about the weather or if they just are guessing.

Batteries for laptops

Lately I have heard my son talking about a new HP Laptop Battery and has been looking at all sort of online sites to find, of course, the best price he can find. He is a bargain hunter when it comes to just about everything he buys. He would rather buy items online than in the stores around this area, and I really don’t blame him. Just being out of school and trying to save the little money his job pays. When it comes to help with money matters, he has even showed me a trick or two on saving. He is on the internet so much I can see why he’d need a better and more reliable battery.

I’ve seen him in public places try to find a place to plug into, when he takes me to appointments, and his battery gets low. Sometimes there isn’t any power source for him to do so, and then he can’t do homework or he isn’t able to finish what he is working on at the time.

I myself really have not ever had this problem, since I usually don’t take my laptop with me. If I do, I know that I’ll have a power source. Thinking about it though, perhaps I should indeed get a longer lasting and more reliable battery than the one I have now.

My day traditions

Remembering traditions in the school I went to until the 8th grade, May Day was one of my favorite. It seems like the whole school was involved in celebrating the first of May.

We got new summer dresses and shoes, because back then the weather was usually nice and warm and sunny. Each class would make a May Pole, and decorate it with ribbons and flowers. There were prizes for the best looking May Pole, but it seemed that Nuns at our small school not only gave prizes to the first, second and third place winners, but also prizes to those who had not won. Either way it was a great project to do and it was fun to see everyone having a cheerful time and participating in the first day of May celebration.

When my kids were little we had our traditions and the the May Pole was a family ordeal. Even my husband got involved and we used the tether ball pole to anchor ribbons and flowers to it. We made wreaths of flowers to wear on our heads and always danced and sang and laughed until the kids got tired of the game.

Shopping for ground cover

Yesterday I went shopping for a ground cover that is unusual. I’ve seen so many run of the mill ground covers in my gardening time, that I wanted…well, I’m not sure what I want just yet, but will know it when I see it. I’m thinking perhaps something fragrant in yellow.
