Carpet or flooring restoration

  • Posted on April 25, 2012 at 10:29 am

I’ve decided that I want to re carpet my office, which I use for all kinds of other things, from projects to watching movies and working at the same time, with no interruptions. The carpet is ugly and old. I want a change.

I have to pick carpet, or some kind of other floor covering that will be easy to keep swept up, and maintain in other ways. Also one that will take the wear and tear of the wheels on the bottom of my computer/desk chair. I would love to have the original flooring back.

It really bums me out that the man who built this house, then added a mall addition to it, at least 100 years ago, used tar to cover up and lay down tile. The tounge and groove hard wood floors in this house are beautiful, and I guess back in the “old times,” people (or at least this man did) used tar to glue the tiles or linolium to the floors. It sure as heck works. I would need a really experienced professional to come in and bring my hard wood back to it’s original state. I haven’t talked to many businesses who want to deal with the tar bit. If so, they are really super expensive.

Computer part a dud

I was so happy when my new computer part came in record time, and my son put it in my computer. Everything worked wonderfully for exactly 22 hours. After that…same problem again.

My son even put it in his computer, which is just like mine and it didn’t work with his either. I did talk to a really helpful person that said it sounded like the part was defective… (Ya think??) so UPS came and got the part, free shipping back, and no waiting. We’ll see what happens.

I really miss my PC though. It’s like not having a friend you have had with you for a few good years. I’m really trying hard to get this fixed.

A computer problem fixed!

I’m doing the, Happy Dance right now and have been since yesterday afternoon. Most know that my computer’s video card went out and though that those two little words, “video card” may seem like techno words, It was my son that told me what I needed and those are the only words I remember.

I’m so glad he has gotten it fixed and I can enjoy typing and writing and doing what I love to do when I have time. I look up old gardening styles and learn lots of other things for gardening. I look up old dress styles and costumes ideas. Name it, I no doubt will find something interesting while I’m doing my “finger digging” on the computer.

I’m looking forward to taking a break and search for some ideas to make more storage in the house. Ideas that won’t cost an arm and a leg and can be used for multi purposes.  I’ll post a picture of what I find! Always a time for home improvement and organization. Let alone help with matters.

Awesome titanium bracelets

  • Posted on April 14, 2012 at 7:22 am

Recently a friend of mine gave me two titanium bracelets to choose from and the one I chose is beautiful. I have gotten so many compliments on the piece, that I am thinking about getting my daughter one also. Of course, she isn’t a bracelet lover like I am, but she did like the style of the one I received and since her birthday is coming up, it definitely would be something she won’t be expecting and will be surprised with me buying for her.

Because of my allergy to most metals, at first I was rather leery of buying any ring or wearing any jewelery made from titanium. Until my oldest son worked as an apprentice for a high class tattoo/jewelry shop, I never  knew jewelery was even made out of titanium. I guess I lead a sheltered life or something similar. Or perhaps I just really never looked into it. He knows I am very picky about what I wear and brought me home a couple black titanium rings that I could try out, just to find out if my finger would turn green, or break out and itch, like any metal besides sterling or gold would, and if it would be compatible with my skin. I liked the ring and there was no reaction to it.

The inlaid titanium rings I found were really beautiful, and indeed my style. I was excited when I received it after shopping for it. Once again I have gotten a great deal of compliments on this piece also. They are pricey, but I think every lady deserves to buy a gift for herself once in awhile.

Night school

  • Posted on April 10, 2012 at 10:53 pm

My daughter has the chance to go to night school for two days a week during the summer for credit that will help her with collage. She is deciding to take it the opportunity to do so. This is the first time the high school has offered this. I respect her in her choice, but also have my reservations. There are some things I’m not sure that she has considered, though I’ve gently brought the subject up to her.

She has been going to after school class the last two semesters, for the credit she didn’t get for passing Phys Ed. Even though she had a total support from a doctor and a specialist to be excused from gym class, due to a back injury, it wasn’t accepted by the school, as gym was a prerequisite for seniors.  To me, this is not right. I brought it up during a meeting with the superintendent and also those I needed to “take it up with,” as I was told. Nothing was accomplished.

I told my daughter to consider the fact that she not only had day and night classes all this time, and also extra credit work she asked for during all the holidays and Spring Break, she didn’t get much rest and relaxation. Of course this didn’t change her mind. She is set on what she is going to do, so I’m just going to be there to support her, and help her anyway I can. I am proud of her, for knowing exactly what she wants.
