What is next?

  • Posted on August 4, 2011 at 9:44 pm

For two days I’ve been smelling a musty icky smell. It’s stronger when the kids have the fans in the back bedroom windows. This morning I walked outside and started sniffing around, literally. I opened the hatches to the crawl space and found it flooded from the rain we recently had, but of course, it floods a lot when it rains anyway, and we usually never have really had a problem. Most of the old houses in this area have these type of crawl spaces that have dirt as “floors”. But this time, we have developed mildew and of course I’m sure there is mold also. I didn’t stick around looking under there long enough to really look. Now we are going to have to call someone in to have this problem taken care of. Just when I thought we might be able to at least catch up on a few of the household bills. I need to win the lottery. But then…don’t we all!

August Rain

For the last few days, it’s finally rained! We even saw a beautiful rainbow. I wish I would have had my camera at ready, but when we ran to get it, we found the battery was nearly dead so the photo didn’t take. It was a double one and the colors were awesome! It’s cooled things down a bit also, which I know everyone is thankful for.

Severe thunder storms or tornado?

The skies are getting dark and it’s starting to sprinkle. The weather channel is calling for severe storms with big hail and possibly 60mph winds. Also, and this is the scary part…possible tornadoes. I was in touch with a few of my blogging buddies and they are to get the same weather it seems. I’m hoping for a nice long rain, but the way the weather has been all over, well…expect the worse yet hope for the best. Not sure if that saying is in that sequence, but it’s the same either way you read it. Not very good for peace of mind though. (deep sigh)

It’s too hot

I never thought I would say that it was too hot outside, but it is and of course everyone is feeling it, which makes for some testy, to say the least, tempers. Because of my asthma, I haven’t really been outside much with the temps and heat index so high, but I think of course, this is better than snow.

Finally a respite from the heat

It’s been storming since about 10:00 am. It’s cooled things down considerably, and hopefully this rain will help the farmers a bit. Actually I hope it’s not too late. I was talking to a few farmers yesterday and it seems like they are only (if that) going to break even. I’m so worried that grocery prices are going to go up even more come fall and winter. No doubt will be time to get even more creative with preparing family meals.
