This guy has real talent. I cannot even picture this in my head, much less carve it out of a pumpkin. Check out his web site for dozens more of his creations.
Squish squash
I’m going to peel and squish the last of the squash I grew in the garden to make some bread. Of course, I’ll also save some of them just to eat, also. Squash is one of my food basics all year round. In the winter and spring it’s rather expensive, but my since my mom had turned me on to all kinds of various types, of squash since I was young and even still is doing this, I LOVE any variety and there are so many recipes and ways to cook it! Heck, I have even eaten raw squash and it was awesome! Just add salt and wella! I just wish I could remember which kind it was that she got me to try the last time I went home. I have saved the seeds from the different kinds of quash I’ve bought, or grown, so in the spring I plan on having a squash garden. I’ve discovered not to buy any that have been refrigerated and not to refrigerate anything fresh if I want to try and grow the food. The seeds won’t take. I remembered the name… it’s delacota squash. Not sure it that is spelled right, though. At least that is how it is pronounced. Eccelent!
Gifts from the farm
My friend Larry stopped by last night. I couldn’t figure out why he had backed up to my front porch, until he began hauling out corn stalks, pumpkins, various squash and gourds, and even baling twine. All this bounty was to get me into the mood to start decorating the porch for Halloween! It was so sweet of him to do this. I haven’t really been in the spirit of it all, like I used to be, and him bringing all of this over has gotten me now wanting to decorate. Tomorrow night I’ll take supper down to him as a thank you.
Happy Thanksgiving to Canada
I wanted to take a minute to wish all of my Canadian friends a very Happy Thanksgiving! My special friend Maxine (Maxie) in particular. She loves Thanksgiving since all of her HUGH family get together and have a wonderful time. Plus the wine flows and the food is awesome. I love to see the photos she posts for me after the day is over. She has a very loving family and it shows.
Homemade Pizza
Last night I decided to try my had at making a pizza from “scratch” so to speak. I remember years ago when I was young, my oldest friend’s mom used to make homemade pizza and it was awesome. I’ve never made it before, but with the help of my youngest daughter, we gave it a try. I have to admit, it turned out wonderfully. Of course to be honest, it cost more to make from scratch than it would have to order one, but it was well worth it, and the kids loved it also. I should have made two, since before I could blink it was all gone. I did however get a tiny slice.
