Time to look for seeds

  • Posted on January 16, 2012 at 6:15 pm

Sitting in the doctor’s office the other day, I started browsing through one of the few magazines that didn’t pertain to sports, and found some really interesting articles about new places to get flower and vegetable seeds for spring.

I didn’t know you can actually join a seed exchange program and you exchange seeds with other gardeners. I thought this was a really cool idea.

There were a lot of websites given in the magazine, so when I have time I’m going to check them out. I might be able to find some seeds I want to plant that are rare or heirloom plantables.

Crash, Bang, Boom

Waking up in the middle of the night to a terrible noise of metal and wood being demolished, is not good at all. At first I thought someone had hit a telephone pole by the side of the road, and was worried that someone had gotten hurt.

I turned on the porch light and saw that it had started to snow sometime while I as asleep. Then, I saw my mail box. Someone had just hit it, and totally demolished the poor thing. They never stopped either.

From the looks of the way they took down my mail box, I’m pretty sure their car is in pretty bad shape. The mail box was mounted on a solid post, that was about two and a half feet into the ground. I could see the skid marks in the snow, and I give them credit for at least trying to stop, but they could have at least come to the door to tell me that they had hit the darn thing. I did have lights on, as I fell asleep reading and it was only about 10:00 pm. Now I need to get a new mail box.

Garage storage space

Today I had to go into my husbands garage to find some tools I needed. It is a total mess. His birthday is coming up and I’ve decided to buy him garage storage cabinets. I don’t know how he finds anything in that garage. He says he knows where everything is, but I seriously doubt if he really does. The kids go in to find something they ask to use, he tells them where to find it and it’s not there. Poor kids spend a great deal of time trying to find anything in there. I think my husband does also.

He has commented at times that he would love some steel storage cabinets to put his valuable tools in, even though he has some really nice tool chests. They are jam packed though, and he does indeed need more room to store things. The garage is his domain, but I think it would be so much easier for him to work in there if there were some kind of organization.

Garage cabinets are exactly, in my opinion what he needs. I think he is a hoarder when it comes to his garage, but I’m not going to tell him that, since it ISĀ  his garage. He doesn’t tell me what to do with my kitchen. I think if I bought these for him though, he would like a gift like that.

Another touch of the flu?

Almost every one of my friends are coming down with what seems like a flu bug. It starts with a headache, then chills and even emotional ups and downs. It’s really strange. I keep saying I’m not going to get it…trying to think positive and all that. BUT, I’ve had half a headache all day and just feel icky. No doubt why I didn’t want to go to the grocery store today. Perhaps it wasn’t just my flaw of procrastination.

Procrastination

Procrastination is one of my main weaknesses. I put off going to the grocery store today when I should have gone. I just didn’t want to spend my Sunday going from store to store to find deals. And actually the prices of groceries depresses me. I just feel like dealing with it. I’ll go tomorrow.
