Spring break

  • Posted on March 27, 2012 at 12:20 pm

The kids that are still in school, start Spring break on Friday. They are off school for nearly two weeks, and I can just hear the boredom complaints now, even before the break starts. They are all over the age of 15 now, but still…I can hear those voices telling me they are bored.

My daughter’s boyfriend is coming in from Florida tomorrow…on the bus. We have to pick him up at a terminal out of State. I’m glad it’s only about a 45 min. drive there though. We don’t have a bus terminal anywhere closer to us. He’s made this trip three times before, and two of them was out of Massachusetts, which was one heck of a long ride for him.

My sons might be bored during break, but they play the X-box and do all kinds of activities like BMX biking and also skateboarding. They are exceptional at the skate boards, but my youngest son excels  on the BMX bike. (He also scares the living wits out of me while he’s doing his moves.) Both have a part time job at my husbands cleaning company, which my oldest son took over, so at least the will be doing something worthwhile. Hopefully it won’t be so bad this year on boredom issues. They are a year older and well…maybe that will help!

Grand daughters awesome bunk bed

  • Posted on March 26, 2012 at 11:15 pm

My oldest daughter and her family are moving into a beautiful home in a month. My grand daughter wanted me to be, ” in charge ” of making her room into one that fit her personality, which included ideas for some awesome Girls Bunk Beds.  Of course, KK asking me to redo her room, is  very special for me. She and I have a rapport that most Grandmothers and grand children don’t have. It’s a tight bond that I am proud of. I’m not even the kind of  ” Nana ” that spoils kids. I’m just…me.

After my daughter took me to see the house, and my KK took me up to her room, I automatically thought about a site I had come across that was called, ” Bunk Beds AtoZ. “  I figured if I couldn’t find a bed KK would love there, then there wasn’t one to made that would satisfy this kid!

When I saw the various bunk beds, I knew exactly which one I wanted to buy and one that my grand daughter would go for also. She needed storage that would save space, plus the bed would have to look great. She’s not into the girly girl stuff, so this bed would be perfect. Sure enough, when KK looked at the various girls bunk beds, she picked out the one I wanted to buy for her, without knowing it was also my choice. Already my mind is thinking about sheets, a comforter, curtains, and throw rugs. I’m in my, element!

This was our choice of a bunk bed, but we indeed will paint it in her colors and it will look like a 10 or so year old, girls bed…with room to get older. She can have two friends over, who will all have a place to sleep. I’ll bet KK calls the top though!

Kittens galore

It’s about that time. My black cat who is also my favorite, and I’ve raised since a baby, (the only cat allowed in the house if she wants to come in) is expecting kittens pretty soon. Normally she will have them in the house and then take them out, across the road and I rarely see them again, unless once they are able to follow her, one or two will show up. I worry about them crossing the road, but I can’t keep watch on them all the time.

I have three stay that I feed and water because I feel sorry for them, but I think that one of them is also pregnant. THEY can stay outside. I’m really not a cat person. I love all animals and like these strays, will feed and water them.  I’ll pet them sometimes, and I always talk to them when I am outside. BUT, they keep getting into my garden, which ticks me off to no end. I have a squirt bottle on the porch all the time now, that I fill with cold water. If I see one of the cats or even my dog in the garden, they get blasted. It seems to be working, as long as I am outside. I just wish people would stop dropping these animals off at my house. I also wish I had the funds to have these animal spayed and nurtured, but I don’t.

The humane society will not help me in any way, and will not take these cats in. They just keep breeding. I’ve contacted so many people and agencies who I thought might help, but I get the same answer. Money issues, no funding, over crowding in the only shelter with is a non kill shelter, so they claim. I personally wonder about this though.

A time warp

  • Posted on March 26, 2012 at 10:29 pm

This is not like me. I woke up at about 5:30 am, like usual. The kids got on the bus, my husband got home from work and all of a sudden I was so tired, I literally had a hard time keeping my eyes open. It hit me like a full tidal wave. One minute I was fine…getting dressed and ready for the day, then the next moment, I felt like I was going to fall asleep on my feet.

My husband told me to lay down and I could barely make it to the sofa. It was sooo strange. Like everything was in slow motion. I remember pulling the lap robe over me and I was out like a light. I barely remember my husband putting his had on my forehead…I guess to see if I had a temperature, but he didn’t say anything that I can remember. I was so tired that I wouldn’t have known it, even if he had said something.

When I woke up, it was nearly 6:30, the kids were home and my husband had left for work. I was pretty disoriented for a few minutes. Then the guilt thing mom’s get, crept in. Despite of the kids telling me I must have needed the sleep, I still felt terrible that I slept all that time. Now I wonder if I’ll be up all night. I can work though, so that is a plus. I still feel like I shirked on my responsibilities though.

Flower deliverys are always special

  • Posted on March 25, 2012 at 9:03 pm

It doesn’t happen often it is sad to say, but when it does, I am thrilled about the flower deliverys I get. It’s nice to have the unexpected truck pull up and watch the guy get out, who is delivering flowers here. My kids like to order flowers for me, if I’ve had a rough time for awhile and if they think I need cheering up. The husband doesn’t do such things. That is why I mention that it is sad to say that it doesn’t happen often. I think if more men would take a minute to order even a small bouquet of flowers and have them delivered to a woman, it would be a grand thing. Some women I’ve spoken to, tell me its romantic and it only happens in the movies. That is sad.

While looking at various florist sites, I became engrossed with gardens of various countries. I know I got a bit side tracked, but I think sometimes that is what the internet is for. I can across http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gardening that shows and tells of some really awesome gardens that might be able to be reproduced here in the USA.

These gardens of course would not be totally the same, as each gardener has their various was of gardening and planting patterns. Even with that in mind, I though a Scottish lavender garden would be a wonderful type of garden to have in a corner of my yard. I’m not done planning yet…and I’m still waiting for that flower delivery to come one day, that isn’t from my kids, bless their hearts!
