Taking Tim Sykes Challenge

  • Posted on April 10, 2013 at 6:36 pm

Listening to my aunts talk when I’m visiting them is always interesting. Aunt J is into stocks, bonds and matters of the like, and though I try to comprehend what she tells me about this subject, somehow I’ve always been skeptical. She mentioned taking a Tim Sykes Challenge and that the benefits may be great.

I of course decided to look at the site and also find out what I could about this challenge and what it entailed. Mr. Sykes is a self made millionaire and he mentors people who are interested in investing and trading. I myself find this helpful, since it seems that the challenge is learning how to make a great deal of money in seven days, by following his methods.

I personally have an interest in taking this challenge. I mean, I haven’t anything to loose and it seems like my Aunts are doing well with any of their investments. I also would learn what they have been talking about for years. I have a feeling that something like this would be beneficial to me and my family. The challenge, from the information that I have read helps with finding your own niche in the trading world and also how to make a full or part time living with the help of these videos that were put together for this purpose. I’m up for the adventure!

More computer woes

First my laptop seems to have fried. My son looked at it and said it was in the motherboard and that to fix it would cost more than it was worth. This posed a problem since work has been slow and I actually don’t have the funds to go right out and buy another laptop.

A dear friend of mine had a older model tower she said worked, that I could borrow until I can get enough money together at least for something else used. My son usually can get great deals on them and has been looking for me.

Once my friends computer got hooked up, we found that my son had to do a lot of installing of things that he knows about, but me being computer illiterate doesn’t. It is so slow that it feels like a hurry and wait game loading links. I’ve got to perhaps borrow the money from my Christmas savings account and buy a new computer with that. I hate to get into that account, but I have to do what I have to do.

Considering Dial-Up Internet Service

Even though I have cable for my internet, I’ve seriously been considering changing this. The cost seems to rise every month or so and more charges for various services that we never ordered or asked for are tacked on to the bill. At first we thought it was a good idea getting the cable service since there was no dial up internet service in our area. We didn’t want to get a dish, since too many folks around here had told us the problems they had with theirs.

I held off getting dial-up internet after it was offered from our local phone company because they hadn’t gotten all of the “kinks” out of it and quite frankly with all of this being very new to our very small country community, I honestly didn’t believe that the people there who were offering this service, had not really been properly trained to answer any questions, or help with repair if needed. I wasn’t satisfied with how any of the services were offered either. All came with things I knew I never would need.

Now that more years have gone by, there are more options than ever to get high quality dsl and also the service people and other staff who are well trained in all of the areas a person using the company needs to get knowledgeable answers to any questions one has, and also there aren’t surprise charges on the bill. I think I’m going to talk to the family and ask what they think of a change.

Buying a Used Car in Tampa

  • Posted on March 20, 2013 at 11:09 am

Since my daughter moved to Tampa and left her truck here because it needed some repair work on it, but also she wanted to wait until she could find a car there  in Florida after she got a job. She said she was now looking for Tampa used cars online. I’m thinking that this is a better idea than me driving her truck down to her after it was fixed and then flying back because I am really uncomfortable with flying.

My daughter loves trucks and wants to take a “personal” look at the Ford F 150 that she had seen. This would leave me with her truck here and she also would have something to drive when she came back for a visit. This is good because she thinks she can get a credit approval and that would help her to establish credit.

When I asked her about her experience in trying to find a used car or truck she told me about the site and also told me to check out the used car videos so I could see the trucks or cars she has in mind to buy. She also told me that it saves on gas and time it would take to go to all the car lots. This way she can see what they have and the prices in general. All in all, I’d say my little girl is growing up and perhaps it was a good thing that she didn’t take her car to Tampa Bay as it is giving her the experience in dealing with finance matters and also buying her first truck or car instead of having gotten one such as her truck here as a gift.

Computer crash

Right now I’m using my son’s computer as mine crashed last night. I was watching one of the shows I like on Hulu and all of a sudden the screen went blank and everything shut down. It didn’t over heat either, since I only had it on for about half an hour.

My oldest son is super good at fixing computers and when he looked at mine, which is a lap top he couldn’t even find a way to get the back off. He said that he’ll look at it again tonight after band practice, and hopefully he can figure out what is wrong with it. I really hope he can, since I don’t have the funds right now to go out an buy a new computer.

It seems like if it’s not one thing going wrong lately, it  is another.  Time for a major break here, I’d say. I’ve got to look at this as not a set back, but one of those things that just happen. It’s really frustrating though since my job depends on having a reliable computer. I’ll have to see what my son can find out later this evening, and if I have to get another one, hope that I can balance it into my budget.
