Teachers

  • Posted on September 29, 2008 at 11:15 am

With the new school year being here I decided to write a post about another situation involving a teacher and a student.  I just read this story on CNN today and was shocked, but then again every year you hear something just like this.  The teacher was a middle school math teacher who lived out west.  I can’t remember what state this happened in but it was in the midwest.  She was in her 20′s and she decided to have sex with one of her students who was only 12 or 13!  I know it is crazy how could a grown adult do that to a child.

The story gets better; not only did she have sex with him but she tried to drive out to Mexico with him to have sex there.  I don’t know what she was thinking; maybe she thought no one would see them?!  So now not only is she in trouble for having sex with a minor but also for kidnapping and taking a minor across state lines.  She doesn’t sound too bright, and she is teaching our children.

September 11, 2008

It’s so strange to think that 7 years ago today the attack on September 11, 2001 took place.  I can remember that day so vividly (like everyone else I’m sure).  I just can’t believe 7 years have gone by already.  For some reason too this year didn’t seem as sad and as horrible as all the prior years.

I wonder if everyone else felt that way also.  I didn’t hear much about 9/11.  The radio stations didn’t talk about the attacks in detail as they have in the past.  I can’t even recall one station stopping for prayer for the victims families and friends.  I guess as the years go by the situation that happened on that horrible day may become easier and easier to deal with.  Just like everyone always says, time heals all wounds.

Jenny Craig Lawsuit

Things in my life seem to get crazier by the day.  I just found out that the old company I use to work for is going to court.  I found out about it because I received a letter in the mail wanting to know if I had a story to tell about unpaid wages during the period that I worked for Jenny Craig.  The truth is I loved working for Jenny Craig but there were a number of times that the days and schedules were so overbooked that we did not get breaks.  I guess somebody wasn’t too happy about this and decided to do something about it.

I guess there comes a time when you either put up with things that are unfair at work, leave the job, or sue the company.  Most of the time it doesn’t get to the point of a lawsuit, but I think that if people feel they were treated badly or unfairly it can end up there.  I don’t know how this lawsuit is going to turn out, but I have decided that I will be more than willing to help out if any attorneys call me asking questions.

The Olympics

With the Olympics underway I can’t help but be discouraged at some of the events that have taken place. By events I mean the bad behavior of some of the athletes and the lack of integrity. I understand that these athletes train their whole lives for these events, but is coming in first place all that important?! I couldn’t believe the anger and hatred I saw on the faces of some of these athletes for not receiving the gold medal! It was really unbelievable and in fact it made me not want to watch the games.

It has really been ridiculous. I can’t remember another time in the history of the Olympics when things were so chaotic. This year I can’t wait to see the end of them. It has not even been fun to watch.

Interesting News

I was reading some interesting news on the internet today.  I am old enough to know that these get rich quick schemes are just that schemes, but for some reason I always love to hear about somebody trying something out and making a whole lot of money from it.  The story I’m talking about was a young boy about 14 years old who ended up making $60,000 on ebay in one year.

He gave his sister $100. for a bunch on DVD’s she had and turned around and made a profit of $400. from selling them on ebay.  Next he started buying things from Walmart at discounted prices and selling all sorts of things on ebay.  Before he knew it he was making money part-time and going to highschool part-time as well.  He didn’t have to get a part-time job at McDonalds like most of us had to do in highschool.  It is going to be interesting to see what becomes of this young man as he gets older.
