Just a few days ago, the substitute mail carrier dumped a package out of the mail truck into the snow and left it there, half in the road and half on the gravel near the mail box post. I had had it, as every time this guy is on temp duty, he either doesn’t deliver my mail to my house, gives it to someone else who has to bring it back to me, or just looses it.

Finally, I made a complaint, as everyone in this village knows one another and this man knows good and well who we are and where we live. Also, since this package was calendar size, and couldn’t fit in the mail box, the carrier is supposed to leave a slip in the box to tell us that there is a package waiting at the post office. Not to mention the front door was open and he could see that we were home.

Well, it’s been quite a while now and of course, the two days that the main post office big wigs promised I’d be called back has passed. Why am I not surprised? However, this guy that is the temp did come to the door. He asked me what the problem was. DUH!! I tried, really very hard to control my temper, because when I answered the door, I saw it was him and I was very shocked to see how old and well…sick he looked. More like, really worn down and not at all looking like he did a half of a year ago, when I last saw him at a school function up close. To be honest, the empath in me knew he wasn’t feeling well and was really having a tough time of it…what “it” may be, I don’t know.

He apologized to me after I dumped exactly how I was feeling about him and the way he had been handling my mail when he was on duty, but I said it in what I think was a very nice way, compared to  how I had been feeling when I ranted and raved before. Something just told me he has fallen on very hard times and something is wrong with his health. I hope this is not the case, as I also felt he really needs this job, and the meter reading job also.

This guy and his family always acted superior to others in our village, and it goes to show that no one is superior to anyone else when it comes right down to it. Bad things happen or can happen and that is karma that I never want to endure. I felt so sorry for him that I really ended up apologizing to him for making such a big fuss, even though I was pissed. Hopefully though, he’ll be more careful as a mail carrier.
