Computer crash

  • Posted on March 19, 2013 at 4:31 pm

Right now I’m using my son’s computer as mine crashed last night. I was watching one of the shows I like on Hulu and all of a sudden the screen went blank and everything shut down. It didn’t over heat either, since I only had it on for about half an hour.

My oldest son is super good at fixing computers and when he looked at mine, which is a lap top he couldn’t even find a way to get the back off. He said that he’ll look at it again tonight after band practice, and hopefully he can figure out what is wrong with it. I really hope he can, since I don’t have the funds right now to go out an buy a new computer.

It seems like if it’s not one thing going wrong lately, it  is another.  Time for a major break here, I’d say. I’ve got to look at this as not a set back, but one of those things that just happen. It’s really frustrating though since my job depends on having a reliable computer. I’ll have to see what my son can find out later this evening, and if I have to get another one, hope that I can balance it into my budget.

Better business through Explain it Videos

  • Posted on March 4, 2013 at 12:18 pm

Being the kind of person who happens to like Explain it Videos when I am online searching for items to buy, or a site that explains the person or corporation’s business and merchandise, I’ve decided I just may try this method to advertise and explain my small business. It makes perfect sense, that this way of doing the advertising through a video, would help with my business and also have a great explanation of it.

Sometimes just reading about items on line or the way a company runs,  and the values of their wares or professional advice, isn’t enough. Plus it’s totally impersonal, in my opinion. Sometimes it’s hard to get a idea of a concept of what said people are trying to get across to their clients. With a animated video, this would make it easy for me at least.

At the site illustrateitvideo.com, they can help with making a high quality video for businesses or other types of websites that need to explain what you are about and the message you want to convey, then it is embedded into your site. This is great, more personal and actually could be fun with the right video! I’m all for this and I think it would be great for generating more business and it may eliminate confusion and misunderstandings for some people.

Another child in collage

  • Posted on January 18, 2013 at 6:04 pm

My daughter has FINALLY decided to get serious and apply for beauty collage. She’s so darn talented with hair styling, cutting, color and also all other aspects of hair. Now that she thinks she is ready after nearly a year vacation, to go to school, it’s making me happy as a clam. ( We’ll go into why clams are happy in another post! ) ;)

Now I have to start thinking about supplies like equipment, tools and kits of things she will need. My daughter brought a list of books to show me which she would need. I am thinking that I have to find a good used book outlet or store. These suckers are expensive, so I’m going be  really scouting out the best deals I can find for everything she needs, without skimping on quality.

I’m thankful that my daughter is taking responsibility about school but I can understand about wanting to take a small break from going to high school and then go back to school again with in a couple months. Who would not want that break after being in school practically all of one’s life. It was time to spread wings and then experience life with out the school and study restrictions or the parental restrictions and over seeing. I know I did. I took two years off, just to figure out what it was that I really wanted to be when I grew up, so to speak. So for now… I will be thinking  fiances and the least expensive ways to have my daughter fulfill her dreams, without sacrificing what is needed. Time to Mom it up and do what I can!

Protection with online back up

  • Posted on December 27, 2012 at 4:56 pm

Never having thought I would use an online back up service, when my computer crashed and I was fortunate that my son could restore the data that I thought was lost forever. This actually could happen to anyone at any time. I realized when I bought myself a new laptop for Christmas, that my son would not always be around to fix problems for me and also sometimes he can’t. I needed professional help so hence the online back up service. It’s better to be safe than loose work that has taken years to gather.

I’m computer illiterate as I call, not knowing anything technical when it comes to the inside aspects of computers. When my son showed me a site that for a very small fee would help me if anything terrible like a hard drive crashing, happened again. The range of help and services is so extensive that it’s well worth the money and believe me, I was totally amazed what the fee would fix. Even if my computer is lost or stolen, the data can be recovered.

In my line of work an online back up service is the way to go, and I don’t know why I never had one. It’s a must for anyone who values their data, photos, work, and also the time it put into putting all this together.

Help and guide to taxes

  • Posted on December 14, 2012 at 12:12 pm

Having to admit that I definitely need help at tax time, is not a big deal to me since I am always on the lookout for a guide to taxes that will help me. I usually always have someone prepare my taxes for me, but over the last few years, I’ve been slowly learning the ins and out of this process. I don’t really think I’m ready to trust myself to do my own taxes, but I think it’s a good thing to have help and learn, in case the need arises.

Last year, my husband chose a service that got him an IRS tax extension, which he needed at the time. I’m happy that he had someone else prepare his taxes for him, as it ended up that he received a great deal of money back and also cut our regular pay in from his other business nearly in half. Had he not done this, I’m afraid we would have had a problem.

I’m not sure if I ever will grasp the whole tax issue, and I do prefer someone who is knowledgeable in this field to trust my money to in case I were to mess it up. All in all, I think it’s much safer that way to get the maximum return possible.
