Looking forward to a new season of the Amazing Race. It starts Sunday night and has a great assortment of contestants, including a boyfriend and girlfriend who competed on a different reality show, Big Brother. This will be a great series if Jeff and Jordan win this one, too!

Snowstorm!

It has been snowing, off and on, for the past couple of days. Since it is so cold, the snow is not melting like it usually does. We have a couple of inches on the ground and on the road. My dogs don’t know what to make of it! In some spots it is deep enough that they are stumbling to get across the yard.

Calling for Snow and Ice

Last night it was snowing when I went to bed. So I was not surprised to find the ground covered with snow when we woke up. Of course there is no school and a lot of people will be calling out from work. I am pretty sure that I can still get into work, as I have mostly main roads to drive, and I’m sure the salt trucks have been out all night. I am going to waiting until after 9:00 though. No sense in getting into the thick of rush hour and all those wrecks just to get to work. I’m sure they won’t mind if I am an hour late, considering the road conditions.

Missed the Race

Tonight was another episode of Amazing Race. I really like that show. The human interaction between the race partners and the other contestants is really fascinating to watch. We had such a late night last night with the trick or treating, that I had to lie down for a short nap with the kids. Next thing I knew, it was after 8:00 and we hadn’t even eaten dinner! What a messed up schedule we had today!

Obviously, dinner was fast and we didn’t have time for TV. Everyone had to rush through eating, showers, and bedtime routines because we have school tomorrow. So I hope to find the Amazing Race “On Demand” or maybe on the internet so I don’t miss the episode.

Trick or Treat

Every once in a while there is a burst of protests from people about celebrating Halloween. I understand their good intentions and their issues with embracing ideas contrary to their own religious beliefs. But in all reality, most kids don’t even think about wican and the origins of the celebrations. The kids just want to dress up in costumes and go collect free candy. The modern tradition may have evolved from more sinister beginnings. But that’s not what it is about for most of us anymore.

I say, let the kids have fun and collect their candy.

Spooky Treats

As parents, we are supposed to bake and take 2 dozen cookies or other treats for the children’s class party on Thursday. I’ve been scouring the internet for Halloween cookie recipes, and just can’t find much of interest.

The best that I came across so far are these meringue ghosts. They are probably very easy to make and after you stick a couple of eyes and maybe even a mouth on them, you have some really cute ghosts.
