Quitting the Nicotine Habit

I am starting to believe in the saying take the good with the bad.  My father recently was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had to undergo surgery about a month ago.  The good thing was they caught it in the early stages and the surgeon had done numerous surgeries of this kind prior to my Dads.

The best news of all besides the fact that they believe they got all the cancer cells out was that my dad has quit smoking.  During his stay in the hospital he wasn’t allowed to leave his room to smoke.  He was in so much pain and on so many different medications that he had to stay in bed.  He ended up staying in the hospital for 4 days without one cigarette.  I think that is the longest he has ever gone without a cigarette in all of the 50 years he’s been smoking.  I am so proud of him.  It is going on a month now without one cigarette.  I hope he is able to keep up the good work.
