Computer crash

  • Posted on March 19, 2013 at 4:31 pm

Right now I’m using my son’s computer as mine crashed last night. I was watching one of the shows I like on Hulu and all of a sudden the screen went blank and everything shut down. It didn’t over heat either, since I only had it on for about half an hour.

My oldest son is super good at fixing computers and when he looked at mine, which is a lap top he couldn’t even find a way to get the back off. He said that he’ll look at it again tonight after band practice, and hopefully he can figure out what is wrong with it. I really hope he can, since I don’t have the funds right now to go out an buy a new computer.

It seems like if it’s not one thing going wrong lately, it  is another.  Time for a major break here, I’d say. I’ve got to look at this as not a set back, but one of those things that just happen. It’s really frustrating though since my job depends on having a reliable computer. I’ll have to see what my son can find out later this evening, and if I have to get another one, hope that I can balance it into my budget.

Protection with online back up

Never having thought I would use an online back up service, when my computer crashed and I was fortunate that my son could restore the data that I thought was lost forever. This actually could happen to anyone at any time. I realized when I bought myself a new laptop for Christmas, that my son would not always be around to fix problems for me and also sometimes he can’t. I needed professional help so hence the online back up service. It’s better to be safe than loose work that has taken years to gather.

I’m computer illiterate as I call, not knowing anything technical when it comes to the inside aspects of computers. When my son showed me a site that for a very small fee would help me if anything terrible like a hard drive crashing, happened again. The range of help and services is so extensive that it’s well worth the money and believe me, I was totally amazed what the fee would fix. Even if my computer is lost or stolen, the data can be recovered.

In my line of work an online back up service is the way to go, and I don’t know why I never had one. It’s a must for anyone who values their data, photos, work, and also the time it put into putting all this together.

Now using Canon MP250 ink

  • Posted on September 23, 2012 at 5:55 pm

My son gave me a printer he had, since he brought a new one that was more compatible with his computer and since this one takes Canon MP250 ink he knew I’d be happy with it.  Being rather slow in the smarts department when it comes to buying accessories for my computer, printer and even film for one of my digital cameras since I have always used older models of just about everything, I didn’t really have a clue about where to get ink and the other items, so once again I had to turn to my oldest son who knows all of these kinds of things.

For once I decided to really try to absorb this whole concept of knowing what I needed for the objects in my home that were more technical than my alarm clock! My son told me about 247 inktoner and the ink it’s self, and also how to put it in my printer for better documents and other things I wanted to print out.

I was surprised that I could find the kind of ink and toner I needed online and at a fraction of the cost it would be to buy it in a office supply store, IF they even had it in stock. This in itself was great considering the economy and how everyone can use a great savings.

In need of Dell Batteries

  • Posted on September 18, 2012 at 11:13 pm

Without my son here for the next two weeks, I found I was a total loss when I was told that I would have to check into new Dell Laptop Batteries for my laptops. I had no idea what I was going to have to look for, in all honesty. I am totally computer illiterate at times, and I must admit I tend to depend on my son to figure things out for me when it comes to maintenance on my computers. Yes, I do have a few computers that I need for work, and no I don’t know much about them.

I realized just how much I indeed depend on my son when I was told that I would need two different types of batteries, one of which was a Dell Inspiron 1525 battery. Instead of making an urgent call, I decided to go online and do some checking about these matters. It’s not as hard as I thought it would be. In fact, it made me feel less helpless and I was pretty darn proud of myself, to tell the truth.

I had to use my online resources, but I did find the Dell Inspiron 1545 battery that I was also looking for also. After replacing the batteries, and also saving money in the process, I felt pretty good about myself! I can’t wait to tell my son that I did this all by myself, with of course some help from looking online at this site a friend told me about,  for the batteries that I needed.

Online savings with coupons

When I got my first computer, I have to admit that I really had no idea what I was doing. I mainly used it for the email and to keep in contact with family and friends who also had computers. Then as time went on, a lot of friends were telling me of sites that gave coupon codes and the first I had heard about was frugalegg.com new egg.com coupons because of online shopping. I had never shopped for anything online before, but this gave shopping a new twist in my experiences. I found that I really liked the fact that I could do most of my shopping without leaving the house. Believe me when I say that during our winter seasons here, it was a joy to shop and save this way.

Learning about receiving coupons online is really handy also and a great savings. For as long as I can remember, I have been into clipping coupons. It actually started when I was really little and there used to be green stamps that my mom and grandma saved. As I got older, I cut out coupons sitting at the kitchen table with my mom. She raised my sisters and brothers by herself on a limited income, and every penny she could save was indeed a blessing for all of us. When I moved out on my own and started a family, I continued looking for bargains and also kept clipping and using coupons. It’s great that now, a person can shop online and also have coupons to use as extra savings.

There have been times when I have gone grocery shopping and have loaded up my carts only to find that I left some of my coupons at home, and am happy I have had great check out people who have actually saved my bags while I drove home and got my coupons. It’s only happened a couple of times, but I am also glad I only live about ten minutes from where I shop, via car. Now that the economy has gotten so terrible, I think that shopping online and using coupons and coupon codes helps a great deal. Especially for folks on a budget. It’s always good to save money for other things that are needed that one can’t use a coupon for. It does help with money matters.
