Fine time to pick to paint walls

  • Posted on December 10, 2012 at 11:46 am

Two days ago, I decided that my living room walls needed washing down before the holidays. I don’t usually start big projects like that, which consists of taking everything off the walls, washing the said items and then scrubbing the walls, putting everything back on them and it’s in general a pain to do since I have so many framed photos.

I don’t know what possessed me, but I grabbed a gallon of paint and started painting the walls and trim. My whole living room is torn apart and that is an understatement. I then realized that I am a very compulsive person and should not have started this project so late.

Looking at the living room walls that are nearly finished, makes me also what to paint the ceilings, but I do believe I’m going to save that for another time, like after Christmas. I admit that it all looks very nice, but never again will I do such a spur of the moment home improvement project so close to the holidays.

Seeing through hipster glasses

Being the kind of person who must wear glasses, doesn’t make me one that like to wear the same glasses all the time and I love variety, so when I looked at a site that had hipster glasses, I decided to check into the styles that are carried to find another pair or two. Considering the affordable prices, I’m actually thinking about a pair for each day of the week eventually, even though I know that sounds a bit like I’m over doing it on the glasses. Some people love shoes, I happen to like various glasses and sunglasses.

The company that I am contemplating getting glasses from lets you try on the glasses in the comfort of your own home and this is a great idea, since I have been known to select and buy a pair of glasses in a frame I thought I’d like, but have gotten them home and worn them a few days then hated them. With this option, one can have five different glasses sent to the house for five days to see if they are right for you!

Another wonderful feature is the Do Good program. With every pair of glasses that are sold, one pair is given to someone in need. How awesome to be sort of a part of helping others to be able to see clearly. I know it would give me a good feeling, knowing that if I bought a pair of glasses, someone else who couldn’t afford them, would get a pair.

School supplies and school clothes

I can not understand why the school piles on the task of buying everything from to supplies to books and school photographs all in the same week. It is enough to break a persons bank account quicker than anything.

Even with having only one kid left to complete high school, buying everything that is needed to just start the school year is really expensive. To be honest, I don’t know how I did it with three in school but I somehow managed. I feel for other families that have to shell out money they don’t have because of this poor economy we are experiencing.

I did save a great deal on my son’s favorite button up shirts and T-shirts. His shoes I never skimp on price for quality, but we found a pair that he wanted really badly and they were on sale. ( I love to shop online for certain things like this, and we also got free shipping!) I’m sure this savings is going to go to the “surprise” supplies that he will need in the next couple of weeks though.

Friday the 13th

A lot of people I know are superstitious about Friday the 13th. I personally am not and actually think it’s funny to see and hear folks talk of their fear of this day. I shouldn’t think it’s funny, because some people really do indeed have a fear of this day and other superstitions, but I can’t help myself. There are some who go totally overboard about this.

I myself am only a wee bit superstitious. I do knock on wood, believe that if a broom falls, one should expect company. Never did get the salt over the shoulder bit, nor the one about walking under a ladder. The black cat crossing one’s path can’t pertain to me, since I have four black cats and they cross my path all the time. Even still, I respect other people’s opinion or fear, even though I do think it’s funny. My mind is a bit warped like that, I suppose.

Mixed up days

For some reason, yesterday I kept thinking it was Tuesday and even showed up for an appointment that I had in town only to be told it was not the right day. I did make it to my appointment this morning, but it seems like my days are all messed up.

Ever since the kids got out of school for the summer, my times and days have been odd. It seems like having the kids around the house all day, every day, has done this. They all are taking a break before they either go back to school in the fall or get a job, so despite the fact that I love them dearly, it would be nice to have some alone time.

I’m seriously thinking about taking a week and just go. When I say just go, it means I get in the car, point it in any direction I feel l like going, and then see where it takes me. This probably won’t make my days straighten out, but it’d be fun to see where I end up!
