I finally registered to vote! I am so proud of myself. Almost going on forty you would think that I would have taken care of this a long time ago. Unfortunately, one of my school teachers talked me out of ever voting by telling all of us that our votes didn’t count.
What a horrible thing for a schoolteacher to tell young children. I wasn’t even a teenager yet when I was told this. He stated that the electoral college was the final decision maker and that no other vote really mattered. Of course being young and looking up to my teachers I believed every word that came out of his mouth. Now that I am a little bit older and a little bit wiser I have no excuse for not voting in the upcoming presidential election. I’m so thankful that one of my coworkers talked me into registering to vote and I will be at the polls this year.
